These customized cupcakes will show your dad how much you know him! Whether he is a Star Wars fanatic, Sports addict or a great homecook, cupcakes will make him laugh (or cry) when seeing what you prepared for him!

Roni Sue’s chocolates

For the chocolate lovers dads, this selection of Roni Sue’s compelling and complex confection is a beautiful and delicious present.

Prohibition Bakery

If your dad likes cocktails, give him a box of these boozy bites, named one of New York’s Most Delicious Dishes. Just be careful not to let him eat the whole box by himself if you don’t wanna start listening to all your old embarrassing stories from when you were a kid.
Our flavor suggestions: Pretzel & Beer and Kentucky Fire

Little Pie Company

All dads like pie.

If you think that yours doesn’t, maybe he’s hiding something from you... The signature pie from The Little Pie Co. is baked with hand-sliced Granny Smith apples, fresh sour cream and topped with brown sugar, cinnamon and walnut streusel. It sounds as delicious as it really is!

Donuts

Donuts are a dad’s best friend (or food). From Dough or The Doughnut Project, make your dad happy and proud by picking his favorite donut flavors.

You can find all these delicious treats on our website, and, most importantly, send your dad some of them. Don’t forget to tell us what you and your dad think about them and which one is your favorite!

We wish all the dads a Happy Father’s Day with lots of sweets and celebration!

Celebrate National Donut Day

The day is finally here: June 2nd is National Donut Day!

Donuts (or doughnuts, if you prefer the old school way) have become so quintessential American, and, we bet that for the doughnut lovers out there, you almost have a ritualistic approach to doughnut consumption. For some it’s a mindless morning routine, for others it’s your go-to indulgent. Still, we bet you haven’t tried all the best doughnuts that there is in New York.

Since there are so many different kinds of doughnuts, we know it could get a little overwhelming. To help you, we’ve made a list of the best places to get the best doughnuts from, for you to celebrate this special date the right way. And by that we mean eating every doughnut that the city has to offer! Enjoy!

These are Ed’s, our co-founder, favorites! Before, you could only get these cakey pastries hidden inside a car wash, at the Underwest Donuts first shop, but now you can also find them at the Penn Plaza, waiting to be grabbed by you. So if you are feeling like having some fluffy Maple Waffle, Raspberry Yogurt, or Jasmine Tea donuts with delicious texture, go get’em!

Sweet-and-savory creations are The Doughnut Project’s flagship. Flavors like Those Beetz are Dope, The Everything Doughnut, and Bacon Maple Bar have the perfect balance between salty and sweets!

These bite-sized doughnuts come in delicious flavors like Paris Time (lavender and pistachio) and Urban Monkey (coffee, coconut and banana).

At their shop, customers can watch as Doughnuttery doughnuts are made, and then choose the sugar flavors they want on them.

Cronuts. The name says it all. Dominique Ansel’s Bakery bakes the cross between croissant and doughnuts, and they taste just amazing. However, getting your hands on these delicious treats demands some time spent on a queue, as they always have people lining up in front of their store, craving for cronuts. Still, most people say that:

Should you give the queue a chance?

The big and famous Doughs doughnuts are everywhere in NY. Their empire is built from their airy and super sweet treats they make everyday. Our co-founder, Puja, is absolutely crazy about the Hibiscus donuts, her favorite.

The Du’s Donuts coffee shop is in Williamsburg’s William Vale Hotel, one of the coolest hotels in the neighborhood, where you can enjoy a doughnut (or ten) laying on the grass at their balcony, which is opened to the public. The chef, Wylie Dufresne, well known for his molecular gastronomy projects, now is back with this project. Flavors like pistachio pink lemonade, grapefruit chamomile, banana graham and mexican hot chocolate will make you want more!

If you feel like throwing a National Donut Day party, or celebrating by yourself, let Sweetist deliver from Dough, Erin McKenna, The Doughnut Project, Doughnuttery and more right to your door!

Don’t forget to wish everyone a Happy Donut Day!

5 Best Peanut Butter Desserts in NYC

In honor of National Peanut Butter Lover’s Day and the beginning of National Peanut Butter Month, we’ve compiled a list of the best peanut butter desserts in New York City.

1. Levain Bakery Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip

With lines curling around the block, clearly everyone and their mother knows about Levain’s gooey fist-sized chocolate chip cookies. But did you know that they come in dark chocolate peanut butter, too? Nah didn’t think so.

Brave the line or get one delivered right to your doorstep here.

2. Doughnut Plant Peanut Butter and Jelly Doughnut

With its oozing, tart black berry jam center, eating one of these will definitely leave you with some shirt stains. But honestly, we’d eat Doughnut Plant’s pillowy peanut-studded yeast doughnuts plain, so we’re not going to complain. There’s also a banana cream filled version for all you Elvis lovers out there.

3. Billy’s Bakery Peanut Butter Chocolate Pie

Pure peanut butter fluff in a graham cracker crust with a peanut rim, topped with peanut butter cups and a chocolate drizzle. It doesn’t get better than this.

Treat yourself to a slice (or five) for yourself here.

4. Butter & Scotch Trifecta Pie

Oh wait, it might! Brooklyn’s boozy Butter & Scotch Bakery kicks it up a notch with the addition of salted pretzel to their dark chocolate peanut butter pie, lovingly dubbed the ‘Trifecta.’

Spare yourself the subway ride to Brooklyn and get a slice here.

5. Peanut Butter & Co Peanut Butters

Okay, so it’s not technically a dessert, but nothing’s really stopping you from eating an entire jar of any of Peanut Butter & Co’s flavored peanut butters with a spoon. Our personal favorite is the Bee’s Knees, a peanut butter blended with honey (!!!). With flavors from chile to cinnamon raisin, and a slew of other nut butters, there’s something for everyone.

Sweet Surprises: ChikaLicious Dessert Club

image

If you had to choose your last meal on earth, what would it be?

For the folks at ChikaLicious Dessert Club, that meal would start and end with dessert. Since 2003, Chika and Dan Tillman have been serving three course dinners of entirely desserts at their East Village Location.

See Mom? Chocolate is a perfectly acceptable meal!

From the amuse-bouche to the petite fours, ChikaLicious has earned a reputation for exotic, surprising desserts, becoming a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. It can be a bit competitive to get a table, but for your daily dose of sweetness, you can try their famous desserts a la carte at the ChikaLicious across the street.

The Dessert Club has three major staples: creme puffs, crepe cakes, and dough’ssants. A master of classic dessert recipes, the bakers at ChikaLicious have created some of the most addictive sweets in Manhattan.

image

1. Creme Puffs: Bite-sized perfection. Their crisp, lightly sweet exterior conceals a rich, decadent filling. It’s important to note that they don’t skimp on the cream: there’s so much stuffed inside this tiny puff that you’ll be licking your plate clean. Try all four flavors: vanilla, creme brûlée, Boston creme, and banana.

image

2. Crepe Cakes: A classic French cake made up of layers of paper thin crepes separated by mousse, ChikaLicious’ version is available in vanilla, Nutella (!!!), or green tea. Soft, sweet, and deliciously uncomplicated, these beautiful cakes are one of the dessert bar’s most popular offerings, and it’s easy to see why: they taste even better than they look. Fresh and flaky, with a touch of rich, gooey mousse.

image

3. Dough’ssants: Baked, rather than fried, this popular dessert hybrid is lighter than your typical donut. Soft inside and satisfyingly crispy outside, the dough’ssant is the cronut’s worthy rival. They even have seasonal flavors like pumpkin pie (and more to come!). Yes, please.

Best Places to Get Baked Goods Delivered in NYC

Sweetist is the only delivery service exclusively for baked goods and desserts. Our goal is to make it easier to celebrate any occasion with great food from local bakeries. We deliver to Manhattan, up to 125th St., and to some parts of Brooklyn. Check us out, our list of bakeries is growing rapidly!

When a sugar craving strikes, a go-to place for ordering baked goods is essential. Living in New York City means that there is an abundance of amazing bakeries nearby at all times. Thanks to online ordering, you can get fresh-baked delicacies delivered right to your door without getting out of your pajamas. We took a close look at all of your options, and these 7 places took the cake.

1. Insomnia Cookies

image

Insomnia Cookies is famous for offering fresh, warm cookies until 3AM. They have a variety of locations around Manhattan (mostly near NYU). Popular offerings include Double Chocolate Chunk and S’more Jumbo Deluxe. In addition to cookies, they also deliver ice cream and cold milk. Deliveries cost $1.50 and usually take around 30-45 minutes.

2. Seamless/Grubhub

image

Why stop at dinner? Despite the fact that Seamless (now partnered with Grubhub) is best known for quick dinners and appetizers, you can find a few bakeries under the Seamless “dessert” category. Most of these bakeries have delivery minimums, but Seamless is great for a last-minute treat for when you’re having guests over and you already ate all the cookie dough.

3. Postmates

image

Postmates is one of the most well-known sites for ordering desserts in NYC, largely because of their partnerships with Momofuku Milk Bar and Dominique Ansel. Although they do charge a service fee and a delivery fee, Postmates is undoubtedly convenient when you need a sugary pick-me-up alongside your paper towels and diet soda from the Postmates General Store. The cronuts are calling.

4. Caviar

image

With a focus on independent, high-end restaurants, Caviar is a nationwide service for food delivery. Their restaurants are required to have at least 4 stars on Yelp and a minimum of 1,000 reviews. At this time they only offer a handful of baked goods to NYC, but their list includes artisanal favorites like Prohibition Bakery (boozy cupcakes!) and Doughnuttery (adorable mini doughnuts!).

5. Delivery.com

image

Delivery.com is an online delivery service that includes booze, groceries and even laundry. At this time, they only have a few bakery/cafe partners, including Seven Grams Caffe. Let’s hope they’ll add more soon. What goes better with fresh laundry than cupcakes?

6. Milk & Cookies Bakery

image

Like Insomnia Cookies, the folks at Milk & Cookies Bakery do their own deliveries between 11AM and 5pm. Be aware that they charge a delivery fee for delivery locations outside of the West Village, and the minimum order is $25. Get ready to eat a lot of cookies.

7. UberEats

image

Uber is slowly taking over New York City, one smartphone at a time. Their new service, UberEats, offers a fixed menu delivered by Uber drivers within the hours of 11AM and 2PM. In addition to the regular lunches, they occasionally offer dessert: like the Famous Banana Pudding from Magnolia Bakery, which was only $1 for the #FoodBankFriday charity fundraiser.

image

If you’ve already tried all the other options without success, if you lie awake at night thinking about brownies, if you can’t think straight without a morning muffin or at least a scone in your system...

We’d love for you to check out Sweetist!
